i found this book in the free box at a garage sale. i've only used a few pages, mostly from the beginning of the book. i'm hoping to flip through it again and maybe write some more poems.
the definition of found poetry has always been vague to me, i think it can mean a myriad of different things. i've heard of "found poetry" used as a classroom exercise in which students rearrange lines from famous poems. my friends and i also used to rearrange those word magnets on refrigerators at parties and we'd call those found poems.
i'm not sure if my method is original, but what i do is find books, magazines, newspapers and cut out various words or phrases that inspire me. sometimes i will find one phrase and build a poem entirely off of that. other times, i just cut out a bunch of stuff that strikes me and format me into a coherent piece. i would consider this to be found poetry. but if you can think of a better term for it, i'd be very interested in knowing.
i've noticed a few people have started to follow my blog which is fantastic! sadly though, an error has occurred on blogspot and i cannot see who is following me. if you have already followed me or want to follow me, please send me an email or leave me a comment. currently i have no idea who you are, which is unfortunate because i would like to follow you in return!
in this blog i will create a found poem from another piece of writing; be it book, newspaper, magazine, receipt, or what have you. i hope to show readers that poetry can be found anywhere.
Wonderful piece, I don't know though if I would qualify this as "found" poetry. I am interested in your method of choosing or starting your poems.
